ESSER Extension
Do you have unused pandemic relief funds? You can use your additional funds toward KIDaccount’s school safety and accountability product line. In addition, KIDaccount provides multi-year software licensing contracts to support schools that are worried about the possibility of adding new services but then lacking the necessary funding to sustain them.
According to K-12 Dive, of the total $189.5 billion provided for school emergency relief, only $326.2 million has needed more time to be spent. Despite this small percentage of extensions so far, it’s expected that more requests might be made for the final and biggest portion of funding, which is $121.9 billion from the American Rescue Plan (ARP).
There are no set deadlines for asking for more time to use the money, but it’s advised to request these extensions early to avoid issues. The deadline to commit to spending this last big portion of funds is September 30, with an additional four months to actually use the money. If extended, schools will have until March 30, 2026, to spend the funds.
Details of the spending extensions show that various states and territories have received approval to delay spending under different pandemic relief packages, with varying amounts of money and different deadlines involved. For more details about the spending extensions, K-12 Dive has outlined everything you need to know in this article: COVID-19 spending extensions so far only include a small share of total funds
